Menopause and Soy Could Be a Great Combination

Menopause is awful for many women because of the uncomfortable symptoms that come with it. Menopause is not a disease, but menopause is a natural change in the body of each woman that is inevitable if they live to middle age. The symptoms can be most uncomfortable, and these symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats and depression. The symptoms occur due to changes in the hormone levels in the body of each woman. At the end of the reproductive functions of the body, the estrogen levels in the body diminish. There is nothing that women can do to avoid this condition. However, there are steps that women can take to lessen the effects of the symptoms.

Researchers developed hormone replacement therapies to mitigate the effects of the symptoms. These therapies had great results, but the therapies also increased the risk of heart attack and stroke. Doctors who originally prescribed these therapies had second thoughts and became very reluctant to prescribe these medications. The news on the hormone replacement therapies that held so much promise left menopausal women without a remedy for their discomfort during this transitional phase in their lives. Researchers have searched for alternative remedies and menopause and soy seems to be a winning combination.

Menopause and Soy Substances Make for a More Pleasant Transition

An increase in the soy protein in the body of a menopausal woman has brought relief for some suffering the adverse effects of menopause. Menopause and soy protein in sufficient quantity seems to make for a more comfortable existence for the women during the middle age time of life. Menopause and soy in the form of tofu, soy milk and soybeans seems to go together for a better quality of life during this sometimes difficult transition. These products are available in many grocery stores because they do have great nutritional value. Soy milk can be found in the dairy section of most grocery stores. Women would be wise to lessen their struggles by combining their menopause and soy products.

There are other natural substances that women might add to their diet to mitigate the symptoms of menopause. Fruits and vegetables have great nutritional value for menopausal women. Whole grains are also recommended for women suffering the symptoms of menopause. Menopausal women should exercise regularly. Weight bearing exercise can strengthen bones that might be weakened by the effects of menopause. Menopausal women should limit the amounts of caffeine consumed as this substance might increase bone loss which is an unwanted result of menopause.
