There are basically two different categories of penicillin, which are: biosynthetic penicillin and semisynthetic penicillin. There is only one naturally created form of penicillin that is used today which is known as benxyl penicillin, or penicillin G, and although it definitely offers its share of benefits, the main drawback is that it tends to break down in acid very easily and so because of this it must be injected by intramuscular injection.
