Common Infant Teething Symptoms

There are some infant teething symptoms that are obvious such as drooling, crankiness, biting, crying, and wakefulness. But other symptoms may not be so obvious such as refusal to eat food or drink milk, rashes around mouth, fever, runny nose and so on.

One of the very common infant teething symptom is swollen and red gums. There may also be small while dots on them, or a small opening where the tooth will soon come out. As the baby is drooling and swallowing more drool, there might be some loose stools as well. Few loose stools are common infant teething symptom, but if the diarrhea is violent, if there is fever, if there is blood or mucous in the stools or the diapers are extra poopy, take the baby to the doctor for help because diarrhea may be due to some other reason.

Sometimes, the child may start bleeding from the mouth, which can be a very scary sight for the parents. If the child is conscious and acting normally, wipe the blood and take a look at the gums. Blood from gums is not a common infant teething symptom, but as the tooth is trying to break through the gum, it may create a small cyst, and as the pressure increases, this cyst may break.

Low grade fever is another infant teething symptom, but if the fever is high, take the baby to the doctor as there might be some other cause, such as infection.
