Paintball Guns Are the Soul of the Warrior

Any experienced player will tell you that the right paintball guns can make or break your success on the field. A gun that's clumsy to use or that doesn't fit your grip properly will only slow you down and wreak havoc with your aim and shooting. Some paintball guns are very small with barrels of only 3 inches while others go up to a standard 21 inches in length, and still others have been custom fitted to be some 48 inches.

Types of Paintball Guns

Different types of paintball games and players call for different types of paintball guns. There is the sniper gun, the BB gun, and even a machine gun. They come in both pistol and rifle design, and many in between. Most of these paintball guns are modeled after real guns, including Colts, Berettas, and Derringers. Paintball guns so designed give a player a real feeling of battle.

Rifles

Rifle style paintball guns come completely equipped with scopes, night visions, electronic triggers, and even semi-automatic fire. Most brands are designed to feel just like a real M16 rifle, the type used in the military. Some even are compatible with the actual accessories used on a real M16 rifle.

Pistols

Trigger guards on pistol style paintball guns mean faster holstering and un-holstering during play. Rubber finger grips contour to the shape of the hand allowing for easy handling even in poor weather. Leak valves are also important, as having leaks of your gas cartridge mean less firing ability on the field. All of these are marks of a quality paintball gun that won't fail you during play.

Shopping for a Paintball Gun

Some are so eager to get onto the playing field that they scoop up the first cheapest gun that they can find, which is often a big mistake. Having a paintball gun that doesn't feel right to you will only slow you down, which is a fatal mistake on the field. Cheaper guns often have performance issues, such as leaks around the compressed air cartridge and problems with the hopper, the part of the gun that loads the paintballs themselves.

If you're serious about paintball as a hobby, you do well to invest a few more dollars in a paintball gun that fits you, that will perform well on the field, and that will last you for years to come.
