Some Important Tips About Paintball Bunkers

If you're new to the paintball arena, you may find it odd that there are these big, inflatable rubber things all over the field. What exactly are they - balloons for the float they hold for the winners after the game? No, actually, what you're looking at are paintball bunkers. These pieces of equipment are an important part of game play, whether you're playing scenario, speedball, or any other type of paintball game. But why are paintball bunkers so important, and how can you use them to gain an advantage over your opponent?

Obviously having obstacles to overcome is an important part of any game. In golf, there are sand traps and water hazards. In track and field events, your obstacles can be hurdles for you to jump over. In American football, your obstacles are the other 300-pound athletes on the field trying to knock you down! In paintball, the paintball bunkers are important elements in testing the players' skill and expertise as they need to work themselves around these to gain field position or to approach their opponent. If you just had a wide open field and everyone just started shooting at everyone else, that wouldn't be much of a sport. So paintball bunkers are very important in the competition aspect of the game.

Additionally, paintball bunkers can be used to your advantage. They are meant for you to hide behind or to shield yourself when firing on an opponent. Most players expect their opponent to pop up over the bunker to check the field; use this information to your advantage by always going around the side of paintball bunkers where you won't be expected.

There are many different types of paintball bunkers. In woodsball, bunkers may be more natural elements, including logs, debris, barrels, and so on. In speedball, they may be the rubber inflatable type we just mentioned. They have different names depending on the shape - large cylinder shapes are called cans, rectangular shapes are called bricks, and even arched ones called a carwash. And if you ever hear someone tell you to hide by the Doritos, don't go back to your car and get the lunch cooler. They're talking about the paintball bunkers that are triangular in shape of course!

Whatever their shape and element, paintball bunkers are an important part of testing your skill, and is used right, in testing the skill of your opponents as well.
