Maximizing Your Small Garden Pond

A small garden pond can still make your garden a while lot better. There are indoor gardens and outdoor gardens that can benefit from a small garden pond. Many people believe that a garden pond can be difficult to install and maintain but there is little truth to this. A small garden pond is easier to maintain than a larger one.

Indoor Garden Ponds

Installing a small garden pond in an indoor garden can actually help to make the house more soothing and welcoming. Most bodies of water promote a cooling effect which is enhanced when there is a water sound such as in a waterfall or fountain. A garden pond pump is necessary to make the waterfall or fountain function but this does not cost a lot so there is little to worry about this addition.

Where to place the small garden pond in an indoor garden may have some limited choices since an indoor garden is usually small. It may be best to place the small garden pond in a corner to maximize the space of the indoor garden. Placing some small indoor plants around the pond will help to bring about the feel of a natural pond and having waterfalls or a small fountain with the small garden pond will provide the soothing sound of water.

Outdoor Garden Ponds

An outdoor garden pond can be as big as the home owner wishes it to be as long as it coordinates with the size of the area. Putting up a small garden pond in an outdoor garden can be liberating in the sense that there are little limits to where it is to be placed. The kind of pond to be put up is also varied since space may not be a big issue. Ponds that are dug into the earth or have elevated barriers are just some of the options that await eager home owners.

A small garden pond can also consist of a tub or metal container lined with durable plastic to prevent any chemical reaction between the metal and the water. It may be a bit difficult to have this kind of small garden pond without an aerator since these are usually shallow.

Placing aquatic plants in the small garden pond can help to make them interesting. Plants of this kind consist of floating plants, underwater plants and those that can survive if planted beside or near the small garden pond.
