The Basics of Chin Liposuction

One of the most common complaints among cosmetic surgery patients is the double chin. Accumulation of fats below the jaw line is very common among people, even if they are not overweight. Although some people try to follow a diet program with regular exercise, double chins remain resistant to losing fat. For this reason, chin liposuction becomes the next best option.

While the muscle tone of chins can be improved through exercise, the collection of fat under the chin or upper neck remains. However, since fats from the chin are very difficult to get rid of, chin liposuction may be your last resort.

Chin liposuction is a procedure that could eliminate the excess fats and loose, saggy skin of upper necks. Just like other liposuction procedures, chin liposuction involves minimum pain, allows for a faster recovery time and provides an effective way of getting rid of unwanted fats on the chin. Although other methods, such as chin tucks and facelifts, can be used in keeping those double chins off, the most advanced and newest method is the chin liposuction. By undergoing chin liposuction, there will be lesser scarring, but a faster recovery.

The Advantages of Chin Liposuction

When a patient chooses chin liposuction, he or she should expect smaller incisions compare to those used in facelifts. These small incisions, which heal very quickly, are possible due to smaller instruments used in new liposuction methods. Another advantage of chin liposuction is that incisions are generally placed in rarely visible areas.

When the surgeon recommends chin liposuction using the tumescent technique, you will be placed under local anesthesia, but you will experience little bleeding and lesser tissue trauma. As a result, patients could quickly go back to normal daily activities after a surgery.

Although most patients are required to take at least two days off from work after a chin liposuction procedure, they are easily able to perform daily tasks during that time. Unlike the potential risks of a facelift, chin liposuction produces minimal bruising or swelling that quickly subsides.

After a chin liposuction, a special protection garment is worn for a day or two. This elastic, protective chinstrap is used in providing patients with gentle pressure for the first few days prior to surgery. However, this strap is immediately taken off after a few days and then no special maintenance or care is required.

Although facelift has been a procedure used for decades, the advancements of chin liposuction surgery gives way to a more effective and less traumatic option of removing those unwanted double chins.
