Finding the Right Job Search Engine

There are many different job search engines on the internet today, some that are worth more than others, since they collect specific information to narrow down the job search. There are also job search engines that are designed for specific types of jobs, such as federal jobs, technology jobs, medical jobs, and many other types of jobs, so finding the best job search engine is important for getting the best results.

Types of Engines

There are some job search engines that have gotten more press than others. One of these is CareerBuilder which gives users job listings on a daily basis in their area or in the area in which they are searching for a job. This job search engine allows individuals to put in pertinent information about themselves, their experience, and what types of jobs they are interested in getting. They can also upload resumes, and employers can contact people who fit the requirements that they are looking for as well.

Yahoo also has a job search engine called HotJobs that works very similarly to CareerBuilder, allowing individuals to put in personal information and to search various job opportunities. They can compare the salaries and benefits of the various jobs in the areas that they are interested, and can also post their resume on the site.

Another commonly known job search engine is Monster, which also has the same types of features that CareerBuilder and HotJobs have. Like CareerBuilder, Monster gives the individuals job alerts so that they have a list of jobs that fit their specifications so that they can follow up and find more information about the job, contact the employer, and take the next steps to possibly get an interview. Monster also has forums for individuals to help each other out, giving job finding tips and other resources.

A more specific job search engine is FedWorld which helps individuals find jobs in the government. Individuals can narrow their search to specific types of government jobs that they are trained for so that the engine gives the results that they are interested in finding. Dice is a specific job search engine for technology related jobs and works very similarly to the job searches related above.

A job search engine that gives a 'learning' job search experience is SimplyHired, which works similarly to the job searches related above, but it gives users an opportunity to rate the searches so that the user experience gets more and more specific as the engine learns what specific types of jobs the user is looking to find.
