Some Disadvantages of Being A Home Carpet Cleaner

There are some worthwhile tips to be obtained from experts when it comes to home carpet cleaners and even though the carpet may not require regular cleaning as some other carpets may, a carpet should be regularly and professionally cleaned at least once every year and not later that once every eighteen months. Nevertheless, the need to save money may sometimes be paramount and so home carpet cleaners abound.

The do-it-at-home carpet cleaners approach is far less expensive even though it is never as extensive as professional cleaning is. However, even a novice may learn to do it, though it may also result in causing some damage to the carpet - so be careful. There are three most common ways that a home carpet cleaner would likely damage his or her own carpet and these are over-shampooing, over-wetting as well as failing to protect the wet carpet against furniture.

The Breakdown

Over-shampooing is a result of using too much shampoo or when the carpet has not been properly rinsed and both are more or less certain to happen to home carpet cleaners who tend to goof up every now and then and so it only helps to underscore the importance of getting a professional carpet cleaner to do the job every once in a while. Failing to do so would result in build-up of soapy residues which prove impossible to clean out and thus leave the carpet a virtual dirt magnet.

Over-wetting of a carpet happens when more water will have been soaked in by the carpet than is warranted and this soaking would go all the way down to the bottom of the carpet and discoloration of the carpet may occur when some backing materials are used on these overly wet carpets. Other ill effects of over wetting is that the carpet may shrink and in case the backing and pad get wet it becomes extremely hard to dry them up and there is also an additional risk of mold and mildew problem arising. And, finally stains are the most difficult carpet cleaning hazard and may occur due to furniture coming into contact with wet carpeting.

Many a wooden furniture would release some of the dyes in their stain when in touch with a wet carpet. Furniture with metal feet may also stain the carpet in case the metal rusts and this will stain the carpet when the two come in contact. Home carpet cleaners often forget to remove all the furniture from the carpet when cleaning and so are most prone to cause such problems.
