Now there Is a Choice: Child Health Care Policy

With the cost of individual health care policies rising and employers giving less benefits on the job in regards to group health care insurance policies, there are many parents who are finding it difficult to get their children provided for on a child health care policy. Today, due to many studies done on this issue and how to prevent it, there are plans in most states to cover children who come from low income families so that they have adequate coverage, despite the parent/s ability to pay.

Choices

Group health care policies that are offered by employers, unions and professional organizations are the least expensive for child health care policies if they are available. These plans are usually cheaper to begin with since insurance companies give better rates to companies since there will be multiple people insured. In addition, companies often pay for part of the premium for their employees or members as an incentive for them to use that policy. These plans make it easy for parents to add their children to the plan so that the entire family is covered under one policy.

Private health care policies also offer the choice to add a child health care policy to it so that the entire family is covered under one plan. However, these policies are usually more expensive and can cost at least three hundred dollars for a family of four each month, which has a big impact on the budget in a middle income household, not to mention a lower income family that usually does not have the option to get health benefits through their employment, working at minimum wage jobs. Because of this fact, there have been many children that are not insured through any child health care policy and because of which are not receiving adequate health care.

Schools are not offering child health care policies that will cover the students whenever they are on campus or participating in activities for the school, such as athletics. These policies are very inexpensive and only cover injuries maintained on the campus or at these activities. A more comprehensive child health care policy can be obtained through the state government for little to no cost, depending on the income of the parent. This type of insurance pays for doctor visits, medication and hospitalization, just like other health care policies do. These plans can be obtained through the state government through a simple application process in which proof of employment and wages is given for the child to be approved.
