Easter Date 2021

In 2021, Easter will be on Sunday, April 4th. (Next year, 2022, it'll be on April, 17th.)

What Easter is

In the olden times, Christian monks were very good at explaining their religion to those who had not heard of God or Jesus Christ before, and they almost always took symbols of significance of the people that they were teaching, and they then used those symbols to teach about God.

Easter traditions differ across the world, and for instance, the ancient Saxons celebrated the return of spring with an uproarious festival commemorating their goddess of offspring and of springtime, Easter. When the second-century Christian missionaries encountered the tribes of the north with their pagan celebrations, they attempted to convert them to Christianity; they did so however, in a clandestine manner.

More About Easter in General

Easter is considered as being the most important religious feast of the Christian liturgical year, and it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, which his followers believe occurred on the third day after his death by crucifixion some time in the period AD 27 to 33. As well, in the Roman Catholic Church, Easter is actually an eight-day feast called the Octave of Easter.

In most languages of the Christian societies, other than that of English, German, and some Slavic languages, the holiday's name is derived from Pesach, the Hebrew name of Passover, a Jewish holiday to which the Christian Easter is quite intimately linked. One important factor in regards to Easter that should be known is the fact that Easter depends on Passover not only for much of its symbolic meaning but also for its actual position in the calendar.

Truly, the observance of any special holiday throughout the Christian year is believed by some to be an innovation postdating the Early Church. In Western Christianity, Easter always falls on a Sunday from March 22 to April 25 inclusive. The following day, Easter Monday, is a legal holiday in many countries with predominantly Christian traditions. As well, Easter and the holidays that are related to it are considered as being moveable feasts, in that they do not fall on a fixed date in the Gregorian or Julian calendars.

There is much to know and learn about this holiday, especially if you are a Christian, as this is considered as being one of the holiest and most sacred holidays of all; however regardless of what religion you are, it is still important to learn about the holiday of Easter and to inform yourself as to what the holiday is actually all about, so that you are simply more aware in general.
