Three Ideas for Different Home and Garden Gifts

Are you tired of receiving and giving wall clocks, glassware and candles as home and garden gifts? All these items are good ideas and everyone could do with more, but they are not in any way unique. Anyone can pick up a set of glasses en route to a party and present it to the hosts.

However, if you want your home and garden gifts to stand out from among the rest, then try one or more of these simple ideas.

Personalize

By personalizing a gift you tell the recipient that you though about the gift in advance and that you really care. You just didn't pick up something off the shelf; throw it in a bag and presto. You looked around, gave name or monogram details and made sure it was ready in time for the occasion.

Some home and garden gifts that you can personalize include throws for the family room, ice buckets, serving trays and even door knockers. A word of caution with the door knockers is that you should probably stick to just the initials of the homeowners. You wouldn't want a stranger coming by and asking the kids to open the door because he's here to see Bill and Cindy.

Stationery

This is a great housewarming home and garden gift because with a new home comes a new address and people are usually so busy with the move and unpacking that they would love to receive note pads, return address labels, letterheads or any other such thing with their name and (new) address on it. There are some websites like vistaprint.com that even offer free samples of some of their personalized stationery products so you might want to order a free set for yourself while you're at it!

Useful Baskets

Look around your kitchen or garden and pick a few of your favorite tools or gadgets. They need not be big or fancy, but things that have made your life simpler - or more interesting. Make a list and see how many items fall in your budget and leave around ten per cent for the basket and packaging. Buy all these things and present them in a themed basket. Tie it with a fruit motif bow if it's a kitchen gift or one with flowers if it's for the garden and you've got a unique home and garden gift that they will really use.
