You should be also having breakfast backpacking food that is bars or other items because if you are able to feed yourself for the morning and the afternoon, you can justify buying a big dinner somewhere and spending that money on it.

You want to buy things that are small and compact and wont' take up a lot of room. You also want to buy things that fit nicely into your pocket, so that you can always have something with you. However, you always want to buy things that are going to be healthy, because you never know when you are going to need that extra energy that comes from eating healthy food on the go.
