How to Refinish Kitchen Appliances

If you are interested in how to refinish kitchen appliances than the first place you should start is with your kitchen cabinets, as they are going to be the easiest. The first thing you need to do is remove everything from the cabinets, and then you need to check all of the cabinets for any troublesome areas, such as water damage, wear and rot. After all, if there is anything that you find needs to be replaced, it is going to be much easier for you to do it before you actually begin refinishing them.

The next step is to remove the shelving from the cabinets, and then cover the counters with a drop cloth, just in case you accidentally spill any paint or other substance while you are working. Then you need to take all of the handles and hinges off the cupboard doors, wash down the cabinets with household cleaner, and then rinse all of the cleaner off with some cool water.

Now you need to fill all the holes, including all of the hinge holes, with wood putty or wood dowels and wood glue, and then lightly sand the cupboard doors, in order to remove any gloss or other irregularities. Now comes the time when you apply the paint or varnish to the cupboards, and you want to paint them from the top and work your way down, as this will give you the best overall results.

Once the first coat of paint is dry you want to apply a second coat in order to ensure a smooth and all-over coating, and once this second coat is dry, you want to replace all of the handles on the cupboards, or put on new ones if you wish, and finally replace the doors, ensuring that they are level with the cabinet frame and with each other so that everything is in balance.

Although this is the easiest way to refinish kitchen appliances in your home, you can do any of the appliances that you want, but starting here and working on to the harder items is the best idea.
